Here are the top three stories in Arlington today:

  1. On Monday, Feb. 27, Arlington County Police arrested 69-year-old Chester Dunican of Waterford, Connecticut in connection to a shooting that occurred on the 1300 block of North Courthouse Road on Feb. 15. After numerous inconsistencies between the Dunican’s account of the incident and the recovered evidence, investigators believe that Dunican shot himself and then staged an attempted robbery. Dunican, who is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharge of a firearm in public, and filing a false police report. (Augusta Free Press)
  2. Arlington County police are investigating a carjacking that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 25, on the 2000 block of N. Adams Street in Arlington. According to the police report, two male suspects brandished a gun and then took the car keys and two cell phones from two victims. A suspect driving a dark-colored sedan then followed the two suspects who were driving the stolen car. The stolen vehicles were then found in Washington, D.C. According to police, the suspects were described as Black males, about 20 years old, wearing puffy jackets and face masks. (Arlington Patch)
