ARLINGTON, VA — Two Forward Party candidates qualified for the Arlington November ballot vying for the one vacant at-large seat on the county board and a seat on the school board in the Nov. 5 election.

On Saturday, party officials announced that Madison F. Granger and James "Vell" Rives have qualified for the November ballot for Arlington County Board and School Board respectively, and both are running with the endorsement of the Forward Party in Virginia.

Granger is a Green Valley resident, fitness professional, and entrepreneur with experience advocating for political innovation, according to the party news release. She was a top mile/1500m runner on the track at Duke University and spent two years representing more than 10,000 athletes across the Atlantic Coast Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association legislative process.

Her campaign priorities include increasing civil discourse and civic engagement, encouraging small businesses, and practicing fiscal responsibility. As a moderate with loved ones on both sides of the aisle, she believes leadership means finding effective, common ground solutions to divisive problems.

Rives is a Fairlington resident. A psychiatrist and past co-chair of Arlington Public Schools' School Health Advisory Board, his two children attend Wakefield High School and Gunston Middle School. His campaign priorities include teacher retention, academic rigor, student safety, and fiscal responsibility.
