Arlington Man Fires Gun Inside Apartment, Causes Flood: Police
An Arlington man was taken into custody Tuesday after he fired a gun several times inside a Rosslyn apartment building, police said.

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after he fired a gun several times inside a Rosslyn apartment building and caused flooding and other damage to the building, according to police.
Hesham Dean, 40, was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, destruction of property and discharging a weapon within an occupied dwelling, police said. He was held without bond.
Shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, Arlington County Police were dispatched to the apartment building in the 1700 block of N. Pierce Street for a report of a man screaming inside the building. As the police officers were responding, the county’s 911 center received another call about shots heard at the same location.

When officers arrived, they found the man in a hallway of the building and took him into custody without incident, police said.
In their investigation, police learned that shots were fired inside Dean’s apartment. They also found additional damage inside the apartment and flooding coming from his unit that was spilling into other residential units in the building, according to police.

Police said they recovered a firearm at the scene. Officers canvassed the building and no injuries were reported, police said.
