Arlington Places In Top 10 In Forbes' Richest U.S. Counties
Forbes has come out with a new list of the richest counties in America for 2017, and Arlington placed high on the list.

ARLINGTON COUNTY, VA — Forbes has come out with a new list of the richest counties in America for 2017, and suffice to say northern Virginia looks like the place to live. It certainly sounds sexy when Forbes Magazine calls Arlington County one of the richest counties in the nation, as it did in an online piece published this week. But for folks who live here, it's not exactly breaking news — more like a given.
Of the 10 most affluent counties in the country, Virginia had four on the list — including three in the top five, Forbes reported. And all four — suburbs of Washington D.C. — are located within 35 miles of each other.
Arlington County placed at No. 8 on the list. Forbes said the median household income is $104,354, and noted that headquarters to several major government agencies are located in the county.

"The wealth in Arlington is coming from the Capitol. Arlington County is home to the Pentagon and many members of the Department of Defense, which employs 24,000 residents. Other major government agency employers include the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and the Department of State."
Three other Virginia locales are in the top 10: No. 1 Loudon County, No. 2 Falls Church and No. 3 Fairfax County. Here's Forbes' list, with Virginia representatives in bold:
