After getting the day off on Monday, schools will be back in action on Tuesday, but not without a delay -- likely over concerns about how overnight freezing of melting snow would affect area roads.
"At this time, based on the current forecast and conditions for tomorrow morning, APS plans to open schools and offices two hours late tomorrow," the county said in a statement. "Essential personnel and food service workers should report to work at their scheduled time. All other employees should report to work two hours past their usual start time.

"We are going to continue to be in touch with APS road crews evaluating road conditions throughout the County, and we will reassess the status of a delayed opening early tomorrow morning," the statement continues. "We will reconfirm or update our status for tomorrow’s operations by 6 a.m. Please watch for an update at that time to confirm that tomorrow’s operations status has not changed due to deteriorating weather and road conditions."
School officials will also keep an eye on a possible winter storm this weekend. Monday, Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King day and schools will be out anyway.
