Arlington Serves As Starting Spot, End Point For Pair Of Carjackings

Carjacking suspects stole a vehicle from Arlington and left it in D.C., and another suspect stole a car in D.C. and crashed it in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA — It was back and forth on Thursday as carjacking suspects stole a vehicle from Arlington and abandoned it in Washington, D.C., and another suspect stole a vehicle from D.C. and crashed it in Arlington.

At about 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, a man was inside his parked vehicle in the 1000 block of S. Hayes Street in the Pentagon City neighborhood when an armed suspect opened the door, brandished a gun and demanded the vehicle, the Arlington County Police Department said.

The victim got out of the vehicle and the suspect, along with two additional suspects, got in and fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, according to police.

The vehicle stolen in the carjacking was later recovered in D.C. The armed suspect is described as a male wearing a black hoodie, camouflage pants and a ski mask. There is no description of the other two suspects, police said.

Also on Thursday, around 9:20 p.m., police responded to the report of a single vehicle crash at Richmond Highway and 12th Street. S. in Pentagon City.

Police determined the vehicle had previously been reported stolen in a carjacking in D.C. The suspect fled the scene in Pentagon City prior to the arrival of police. A witness said he saw the suspect enter a sedan driven by another person.

The suspect is described as a male with shoulder-length hair, 6-feet tall, skinny build and wearing jeans.

The police did not report any injuries to the carjacking victims in the two incidents.

On Wednesday night, in a separate incident, a man was carjacked in Crystal City when three suspects pulled up alongside the man’s vehicle, displayed a gun and demanded the vehicle, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

During the police investigation, the stolen vehicle was recovered in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The suspect who drove away in the stolen car is described as a Black male, about 6-feet-1-inches to 6-feet 3-inches tall, and about 20 years old. He was wearing a mask.
