Here are the top three stories today in Arlington:

  1. On Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 1, multiple teens were treated with Narcan after Arlington County police were called to a parking garage near the Ballston Quarter shopping center for a possible overdose. Arlington County Fire Department first responders administered Narcan to two of the three teens and then took all three to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing. (Fox 5)
  2. On Sunday, Mar. 5, the National Park Service plans to close both northbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Arlington. Crews will use a large crane to remove an abandoned car that has been about two hundred feet off the road for more than a year after crashing in January 2022. The southbound lanes will remain open while the northbound lanes from Spout Run Parkway to Chain Bridge Road (VA 123) will be closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Arlington VA Patch)
  3. Arlington residents are encouraged to participate in a statewide tornado drill at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 7. The drill will be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio and the Emergency Alert System via the Required Monthly Test (RMT). If there is actual severe weather occurring on Mar. 7, the drill will be postponed until Mar. 9 at 9:45 a.m. Click here for details. (Ready Arlington via Twitter)
