Arlington Woman Catches Burglar In The Act, Scares Him Off: Cops

A woman awoke to the sound of someone tampering with her front door, and then told the would-be burglar to leave, Arlington police say.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Police are searching for a suspect after an Arlington woman awoke to the sound of someone attempting to enter her home, prompting her to tell the would-be burglar to leave, police say.

Police were called to the 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive at around 12:06 a.m. on March 28 to a report of a burglary in progress, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"[T]he female victim was awoken to the sound of someone tampering with the handle to her front door," the report states. "The victim conversed with the suspect through the front door, telling him to leave."

The suspect was able to escape before police arrived.

Police described him as a "black male with a black beanie, grey or olive jacket and blue jeans."
