Attempted Car Theft Near Amazon HQ2 Leads To Charges Against 2 Men

Two 18-year-old men were taken into custody near Amazon's headquarters in Arlington Monday and charged with attempted grand larceny.

ARLINGTON, VA — Two 18-year-old men were taken into custody near Amazon’s headquarters in Arlington Monday afternoon and charged with attempted grand larceny, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, police were dispatched to the 500 block of 14th Road South in Pentagon City for the report of a larceny in progress. Security guards inside a parking garage heard a car alarm activated and saw two males wearing ski masks tampering with the steering column of a vehicle.

The security guards confronted the two suspects, who then ran off. A short time later, Arlington County police officers found the suspects in the area of S. Fern Street and 12th Street S. and attempted to detain them. But both suspects ran from the area. They were later located and taken into custody.

In their investigation, police said they found tools used in the attempted car theft in the garage.

Josiah Moore, 18, of Fort Washington, Maryland, was arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny auto, possession of burglarious tools, destruction of property, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask in a public place to conceal identity.

Khaliq Harrison, 18, of Alexandria was arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny auto, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask in a public place to conceal identity.
