Bicycle Stolen From South Arlington Residential Building: Police
Arlington county police arrested a North Carolina man they say broke into a secured room inside a residential building and stole a bike.
ARLINGTON, VA — A North Carolina man is facing multiple charges after he stole a bicycle from a residential building near Four Mile Run on Saturday morning, according to Arlington County police.
Officers were dispatched around 10:16 a.m. for the report of a larceny in progress in the 3600 block of South Glebe Road. A witness reported seeing a man fleeing the area with a bicycle he'd stolen from a secured room inside a residential building, according to the incident report.
The witness followed the suspect and flagged down an officer, who subsequently located the suspect in the 2700 block of Richmond Highway and arrested him. During their investigation, the officers recovered burglarious tools, according to the incident report.

Police charged 29-year-old Willie Taft of Greenville, North Carolina with burglary, possession of burglarious tools, destruction of property and petit larceny, according to the report.

Taft was arraigned on Monday afternoon in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 25, 2026, according to court records. He was released on bail.
The possession of burglarious tools charge is a Class 5 felony. If convicted on this charge, Taft faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison or up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.
