Cocaine, Cash Recovered During DUI Arrest In Arlington Village: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — A 57-year-old Arlington man is facing felony drug charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation Thursday night in Arlington Village, according to police.

Around 8:26 p.m., an Arlington County police officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation in the 1400 block of South Glebe Road, according to police.

"Upon making contact with the driver, the officer observed an open container and, following an investigation, took the driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence," according to the incident report. "During an inventory of the vehicle prior to towing and a search of the suspect incident to arrest, a distribution amount of cocaine and prescription pills, packaging material and cash were recovered."

As part of the investigation of this case, police executed a search warrant of a residence and recovered a large amount of ash, cocaine, packaging material and a scale, according to police.

Charles Neal of Arlington was arrested and charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I/II controlled substance and driving under the influence, according to police. Neal was then held without bond.

Neal was arraigned Friday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, according to court documents.
