Work Starts On South Bell Street Project At National Landing
JBG SMITH has started construction on two towers that will bring 775 residential units to the National Landing area.

ARLINGTON, VA — JBG SMITH, the Bethesda-based property developer, announced Tuesday that it had started construction of two mutli-family towers in National Landing, according to a release.
Located at 2000 and 2001 South Bell St., the buildings are part of a mixed-use development that will bring 775 rental units and 27,000 feet of retail space to the area.
Designed by KPF, the 25-story-glass tower being built at 2000 South Bell Street will include 355 multi-family apartments and about 15,000 square feet of street-level retail space. The adjacent 19-story tower at 2001 South Bell Street was designed by STUDIOS and will offer 420 apartments and about 10,000 square-feet of street-level retail space.

“The start of construction at 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street is a major milestone in National Landing’s ongoing transformation and delivers on our pledge to build new housing in lockstep with Amazon and Virginia Tech’s growth in the neighborhood,” said Bryan Moll, JBG SMITH's executive vice president of development, in a release. “These two unique towers are a testament to our efforts to create a more animated and diverse urban environment through an injection of creativity and in collaboration with established architectural design firms.”
The project, which received the unanimous approval of the Arlington County Board in May 2021, will provide a number of community improvements, including dedicated parks and open space funding. The project will also fund a new library branch for the National Landing area and dedicated affordable housing.
