Felony Drug Charge Levied Against Springfield Man: Arlington Police

Arlington police arrested a Springfield man during a traffic stop with what they called a "distribution amount of marijuana," reports say.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 40-year-old Springfield man was arrested early Sunday in Ballston with what Arlington County police described as a "distribution amount of marijuana," according to reports.

Officers responded around 2:40 a.m. to the 800 block of North Randolph Street for the report of a single-vehicle crash.

"Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle and following an investigation, he was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence," according to the incident report. "During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing, a distribution amount of marijuana was recovered."

Police arrested Sami Bukair of Springfield and charged him with driving under the influence and felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to the report. He was then held without bond.

Bukair was scheduled to be arraigned in Arlington General District Court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and a preliminary hearing was set for Bukair has a preliminary hearing set for 11 a.m. on Nov. 14, according to court records.
