ARLINGTON, VA — A 25-year-old woman is facing an attempted malicious wounding charge in connection with a fight that occurred Dec. 23 in the Penrose area, according to Arlington County Police.

Officers responded around 3:32 p.m. for the report of a fight near Columbia Pike and S. Scott Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two people who knew each other were arguing, which turned into a physical altercation. The suspect pulled out a knife and tried to slash the person with whom she was arguing, according to police. Another person intervened and was cut by the knife, according to police.

The officers located the suspect nearby, taking her into custody. The two victims received non-life-threatening injuries during the scuffle. Police say they refused medical treatment.

ACPD arrested Janae Lancaster of an undetermined address, charging her with attempted malicious wounding. She was then held without bond.

Lancaster has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, 2025 in Arlington General District Court, according to court records.
