“Interest rate increases definitely slowed home sales nationally and locally in July. However, our region’s home sales slipped more since there were so few homes to buy,” NVAR CEO Ryan McLaughlin said in a statement Friday. “For our region, the sales decline was a combination of factors — supply, demand, and buyers taking a step back to wait for a more rational market."

Despite fewer home sales in Northern Virginia, homes prices continued to bump up. In Northern Virginia, the median sold price for a home in July 2022 was $650,000, up 1.6 percent compared to July 2021, according to NVAR.
