High-Speed Chase On I-395 Leads To Arrest Of DC Teen In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia State Police arrested a 17-year-old driver from Washington, D.C., following a high-speed chase on Interstate 395 in Arlington on Sunday, according to a release.

Troopers were conducting a special enforcement project, around 1:04 a.m., near Exit 10 on I-395, when they saw a black Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes, according to VSP. A trooper began a pursuit, as the Charger was identified as a vehicle that had eluded troopers on multiple occasions.

The Charger exited onto Route 110 northbound from I-395. Even though troopers deployed tire deflation devices, the vehicle continued on, exiting near Arlington National Cemetery, according to VSP. The vehicle got back on Route 110, heading southbound with just one wheel working.

From there, the Charger continued onto Route 1 and exited onto 15th Street in Arlington, skidding and crashing into a curb, according to VSP. The driver was taken into custody and was charged with eluding and reckless driving plus seatbelt and equipment violations.

VSP released two juvenile passengers from the Charger to their parents.
