I-395 Police Pursuit Leads To Teen’s Arrest In Stolen Vehicle Case

ARLINGTON, VA — A teen suspect is facing multiple charges, including malicious wounding on a police officer, after he attempted to flee from authorities in a stolen vehicle on I-395 during evening rush hour on Thursday, according to Arlington County Police.

Officers were alerted around 5:19 p.m., that a stolen vehicle was traveling on Shirlington Road and 24th Road South, according to police. A lookout was broadcast and officers searched the area for the suspect.
A short time later, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle traveling northbound on I-395 near Richmond Highway, authorities say. The officer attempted a vehicle stop, but the suspect struck the police cruiser and continued to drive on. The officer did not receive any injuries.

The suspect struck another two vehicles in the area and tried to flee police on foot, but he was apprehended near Boundary Channel Drive, according to ACPD. Both vehicles were damaged, but the occupants did not report any injuries.

Investigators determined that the suspect was a juvenile in his teens and that he did not have a valid operator’s license. In addition, officers recovered burglarious tools from the vehicle, according to police.

Officers obtained petitions for the juvenile suspect for malicious wounding on police, unauthorized use of a vehicle, eluding, identity theft, possession of burglarious tools, no operator’s license and two hit and run charges.
