Letter Carriers To Pick Up Food Donations At Mailboxes For AFAC
Arlington residents are asked to leave non-perishable food donations in a bag next to their mailboxes no later than 9 a.m. on May 13.
ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington Food Assistance Center is participating in the 31st Annual "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive on May 13, a nationwide food drive organization by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Arlington residents are asked to leave non-perishable food donations in a bag next to their mailboxes no later than 9 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, May 13. Local letter carriers will collect the food on their normal routes, and all the food gathered in Arlington will be donated to AFAC.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive "keeps AFAC's shelves stocked for months," the nonprofit group said. Currently, more than 3,000 families are coming to AFAC each week at 17 distribution sites across Arlington and two outside Arlington to get fresh groceries.

The National Association of Letter Carriers represents 294,000 letter carriers and retired letter carriers across the country.
For the food drive, residents who live in apartment buildings can bring their donations to the following posts offices and library in Arlington no later than Friday, May 12:

- North Station, 2200 N. George Mason Drive
- South Station, 1210 S. Glebe Road
- Main Station, 3118 Washington Boulevard
- Preston King Station in Westover, 5877 Washington Boulevard
- Shirlington Post Office, 2850 S. Quincy Street
- Arlington Central Library, 1015 N. Quincy Street
Residents who forget to leave food donations for their letter carriers can drop off donations to the AFAC main warehouse at 2708 S. Nelson Street, or at Arlington Central Library starting on Monday, May 15.
