LGBTQ Group Endorses Jonathan Dromgoole For Arlington County Board
The LGBTQ Victory Fund, a national organization, on Thursday endorsed Democratic candidate Jonathan Dromgoole for Arlington County Board.

ARLINGTON, VA — The LGBTQ Victory Fund, a national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office, on Thursday endorsed Jonathan Dromgoole for Arlington County Board.
Dromgoole would be the first out LGBTQ member of color on the Arlington County Board and the first out LGBTQ immigrant elected in Virginia.
"Jonathan will bring a unique and necessary perspective to the county board ensuring all residents are considered when making policy decisions," Annise Parker, president and CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund, said in a statement. “His commitment to smart public policy that addresses the real concerns of constituents makes him the best candidate in this race.”

The endorsement signals the LGBTQ Victory Fund’s confidence that Dromgoole is well-positioned to win the county race, according to Dromgoole’s campaign.
Dromgoole works as senior manager for presidential appointments for the LGBTQ Victory Institute, an affiliate of the LGBTQ Victory Fund.

Dromgoole is among five candidates who are seeking the Democratic nomination for two positions on the county board. The other candidates are Julius (JD) Spain Sr., Maureen Coffey, Tony Weaver and Natalie Roy.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Dromgoole’s family eventually immigrated to the United States. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. He then went on to earn a master of public policy from Georgetown University.
Dromgoole helped establish the Arlington Democrats Latino Caucus and the Equality Caucus, with the goal of giving the Latino and LGBTQ community a voice in the decisions of the Arlington Democratic Party.
As president of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia, Dromgoole transformed DLOV from simply a caucus of the Democratic Party of Virginia to "a voice for the community, gaining national recognition among other states' Latino caucuses," according to his campaign website.
In August 2021, Dromgoole was appointed by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam as an inaugural member of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board. He serves as a member of the board's Education and Workforce Development subcommittee.
"As an out LGBTQ leader, Jonathan will be an unwavering voice for equality on the Arlington County Board," the LGBTQ Victory Fund said. "His priorities in office will include promoting small business growth and opportunity, climate resiliency, housing access and affordability, sustainable infrastructure and transportation, and building inclusive communities."
