Man Shatters Glass Door, Beats Employee At Arlington Smoke Shop

A man smashed a glass door of a business in the Courthouse area of Arlington and beat an employee early Wednesday morning, police said.

ARLINGTON, VA — A man smashed the glass door of a business in the Courthouse area of Arlington and then beat an employee early Wednesday morning, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday, police were dispatched to a business in the 2300 block of Wilson Boulevard for a report of robbery by force.

ARLnow reported the robbery happened at the Tobacco Vape Cigars store at 2305 Wilson Blvd.

An employee was inside the closed business when he heard the suspect break into the store by shattering a glass door. The employee tried to confront the man, who began collecting merchandise. The two fought before the suspect struck the employee and fled the scene on foot, police said.

Medics evaluated the employee at the scene, but he did not go to the hospital. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect, but could not find him.

The suspect is described as a Black male, about 6-feet, 3-inches to 6-feet, 5-inches tall, with facial hair and wearing a black sweatshirt, gray jeans and a gray hat, according to police.
