McLean Driver Killed In Arlington Crash, Charges Pending: Police
Police have released the name of a McLean woman who was killed in an Arlington crash, and said charges are pending against another driver.
ARLINGTON, VA — Authorities have released the name of a McLean driver who was killed in an Arlington crash Monday, while the driver suspected of causing the collision remains in critical condition at an area hospital.
Arlington County police on Tuesday afternoon identified the driver who died as Xuewei He, 32, of McLean. She was driving a sedan turning onto Wilson Boulevard from North Vermont Street when her vehicle was struck by an eastbound pickup truck on Wilson Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
The impact from the crash sent the pickup and sedan into two other vehicles that were stopped at the traffic light at Wilson Boulevard and North Glebe Road, a police news release said.

Police have not released the name of the pickup truck driver, but said charges are pending against him and he remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
He, the sedan driver, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators said Tuesday that in addition to the fatal crash, the driver of the pickup truck struck a vehicle at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and North George Mason Drive and struck a second vehicle that was eastbound on Wilson Boulevard. Additionally, two vehicles crashed at Wilson Boulevard at North Wakefield Street while attempting to avoid the pickup truck.
No injuries were reported as a result of these crashes.
Officers who were westbound on Wilson Boulevard were stopped at the traffic light at North George Mason Drive when the pickup truck sped through the intersection into the wrong lanes of travel, police said. The officers made a U-turn and headed east on Wilson Boulevard to investigate.
The fatal crash occurred before police reached the area. In accordance with department policy, the officers were not in pursuit of the vehicle, a news release said.
