Attempted Ballston Bank Robbery Ends With MD Man's Arrest
Arlington County Police arrested a Maryland man who they say tried to rob a bank in Ballston with an unseen weapon on Thursday.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a Maryland man in connection to an attempted armed robbery Thursday morning at a bank in Ballston, according to authorities.
Officers responded around 10 a.m. to the 800 block of North Randolph Street for the report of a robbery, according to police. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man passed a note to a teller demanding money and implied that he had a weapon. The man left the bank without any cash and fled the area in a vehicle.
No one was injured and no weapon was seen or displayed during the attempted robbery, according to police.

ACPD investigators identified the suspect as 61-year-old Tyrone Fitzgerald Hines of Suitland, Maryland, who was located In Washington, D.C. and detained by the Metropolitan Police Department. Hines was arrested and charged with attempted burglary, according to police.
