Murder Charge Filed After Pentagon City Stabbing Victim Dies: Police
An Arlington woman who was hospitalized after she and a child were attacked in Pentagon City died from her injuries Friday, police say.

ARLINGTON, VA — A second-degree murder charge has been added to the criminal counts 23-year-old Leonardo Reyes, 23, already faces in connection to a domestic stabbing incident that occurred earlier this month in Pentagon City.
Reyes was already facing aggravated malicious wounding, contributing to the delinquency of a child and child abuse charges for attacking a woman around 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 14. At the time, the woman was holding a child as she was walking in the 900 block of Army Navy Drive.
Reyes approached, stabbed the victims with a knife, and fled on foot, according to Arlington County Police. A second child at the scene was not injured, police said.

The woman and the young girl suffered lacerations and were taken to the hospital, police said, adding the toddler was in stable condition and the woman was n serious but stable condition. On Dec. 23, the injured toddler was released from the hospital.
The woman, who police identified as 26-year-old Iman Gaye of Arlington, died from her injuries on Friday morning, according to authorities. This prompted police to charge Reyes with second-degree murder in Gaye’s death.

Officers saw Reyes enter a parking garage as they arrived and found him under a parked vehicle, according to police, who said he struggled when they tried to take him into custody and was detained with the help of a K-9.
Reyes is being held without bond in Arlington County Detention Center, police said.
