ARLINGTON, VA — Equality Arlington, a new group that advocates for the needs of the LGBTQ+ community, is hosting a Pride Party on Friday at Quincy Hall in Arlington. The party will feature food and games.
After receiving its nonprofit status in April, Equality Arlington set its priorities for 2023, which include improving healthcare access and services for LGBTQ+ residents, especially transgender residents; supporting LGBTQ+ youth in schools and in the community; and improving access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment services for LGBTQ+ residents
“We’ve talked to many LGBTQ+ residents and their families who have struggled to find Arlington doctors who know how to meet their health needs,” Kellen MacBeth, president of Equality Arlington, said in a statement. “To address this, Equality Arlington has been working with VHC Health to ensure that the health needs of the LGBTQ+ community are reflected in their Community Health Needs Assessment being released later this year.”
