ARLINGTON, VA -- With Christmas over with, everyone is looking ahead to the New Year. And with New Year's Day falling on a Tuesday this year, that means plenty of confusion over what is open and what is closed in the Arlington area.

We have a quick breakdown of what you can expect this week:

Arlington County Government offices, courts, libraries & facilities will be closed on Tue., Jan. 1, 2019 for New Year’s Day.

  • ART–On Jan. 1, ART 41, 42, 43, 45, 51, 55 and 87 will operate Sunday schedules; no other ART routes will operate.
  • STAR The STAR Call Center will be closed and standing orders will not be provided. Please call beforehand to request a trip on the holiday or the day after.
  • Metrorail & Metrobus Schedule
Trash Pickup & Recycling
  • Trash & Recycling – No pickup Jan 1. Collections will be delayed one day for the rest of the week.
  • Special Collection (Brush, Metal, E-waste) & Cart Services –Christmas Tree Collection & Recycling: Dec. 31-Jan 11.
