Ohio Man Accused Of 2023 Rape In Radnor/Ft. Myer Heights: Police

Arlington County Police arrested a 20-year-old Ohio man they say raped a woman last October in her Radnor/Ft. Myer Heights home.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 20-year-old Ohio man has been arrested in connection to a rape that occurred last October in the Radnor/Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood, according to Arlington County Police.

Officers responded around 12:19 a.m. on Oct. 29, 2023, to investigate a report of a rape in the 1500 block of Clarendon Boulevard. Investigators determined that an unknown man gained entry to the victim’s home. Entering her bedroom, the man threatened and then raped her before leaving the home on foot, according to police.

After reviewing evidence and conducting witness interviews, investigators with ACPD’s Special Victims Unit were able to identify Hamza Omar of Columbus, Ohio as a suspect in the case, according to police. Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest in August.

Omar was eventually located in Ohio, where he was arrested by the Columbus Division of Police on the outstanding warrants, police say. The suspect was then extradited to Virginia, where he was charged with rape, abduction with intent to defile, robbery, burglary with intent to commit rape and wearing a mask in public, according to ACPD. Omar was then held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
