Penrose Robbery Suspect Arrested Sunday In Buckingham Area: Police
An Arlington County Police officer arrested a 39-year-old suspect who they say tried to take items from a Penrose store without paying.
ARLINGTON, VA — James Freeman, a 39-year-old Arlington resident, was arrested in connection with a robbery at a Penrose store on Friday, according to Arlington County Police
Officers responded around 2:39 p.m. to the report of an armed robbery at a store in the 2500 block of 9th Road S. A preliminary investigation revealed that a person entered the store, hid merchandise inside a bag and began walking toward the exit without stopping to pay, according to police. Two employees tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect implied they had a weapon and threatened the employees. They then fled the store.
Investigating further, ACPD were able to identify the suspect as Freeman and obtained warrants for their arrest, according to police.

On Sunday, an officer spotted Freeman in the 200 block of N. Glebe Road in the Buckingham area. The officer tried to take Freeman into custody, but they resisted arrest, police say. After a short pursuit, Freeman was taken into custody and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Police arrested Freeman, charging him with obstruction of justice and two counts of robbery. They were then held without bond.
