Pepper Spray Deployed During Arrest Of 4 In Crystal City Brawl: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police deployed pepper spay during the arrest of four people involved in a drunken brawl that took place early Wednesday morning in Crystal City.

Officers responded around 12:11 a.m. to the 300 block of 23rd Street Street South for the report of a fight, according to the incident report. The officers determined that an argument between two acquaintances had escalated into a physical altercation.

Encountering a large group of people who gathered outside the business where the fight was taking place, the arriving officers called for additional officers to help manage the crowd, according to the police.

Two suspects assaulted officers, with one resisting arrest, according to the incident report. An officer deployed pepper spray against that suspect, who was then taken into custody.

The following four suspects were treated for exposure to pepper spray and arrested in connection to the brawl:

  • Darnell Turner, 33, of Washington, D.C. faces two assaults on police charges.
  • Marleta Dixon, 20, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland was charged with assault on police.
  • Chaniqua Washington, 32, of Washington, D.C. was charged with drunk in public and disorderly conduct.
  • Cassandra Turner, 25, of Washington, D.C. was charged with drunk in public
