Police Charge Suspect In Shooting On Richmond Highway

ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man accused of firing a gunshot at another driver on Richmond Highway in Arlington after a collision has been arrested, Arlington County Police said Monday.

Javon Brown, 23, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with shooting missiles at an occupied vehicle and hit and run. Police did not say what led them to the suspect.

Brown is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

About 2:06 p.m. on June 19, police were dispatched to 33rd Street South and Richmond Highway for the report of a shooting. Investigators said the male victim was driving southbound in the 2600 block of Richmond Highway when the male suspect, later identified as Brown, driving a blue sedan pulled alongside his vehicle and fired a gun at the victim’s vehicle before fleeing northbound on Richmond Highway.

The victim told police that before the shooting, he and Brown were involved in a traffic collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunshot, police said.

While officers searched the area for the shooter, they were unable to find him at the time.

Minor damage was reported to the victim's vehicle.
