Reid Goldstein Will Not Seek Re-Election To Arlington School Board
Arlington County Public Schools Chair Reid Goldstein will not be seeking re-election this fall to a third term on the school board.
ARLINGTON, VA — Reid Goldstein, chair of the Arlington School Board, will not be seeking re-election this fall to a third term on the school board.
Goldstein said he will make a formal announcement about his decision not to run again after eight years on the school board at the next meeting of the Arlington Democrats on March 1.
Goldstein was first elected in 2015, replacing School Board member Abby Raphael, who decided not to seek re-election that year. He defeated Sharon Dorsey in the 2015 Arlington County Democratic Committee endorsement caucus.

“I have always believed that building a healthy and desirable community is not a spectator sport and have been committed to public service in Arlington for almost 25 years,” Goldstein said in a statement released by Arlington Democrats on Tuesday. “However, as this chapter of my life comes to a close, I am excited to explore new ways of serving the community.”
Goldstein’s professional background includes strategic planning for federal government and private industry clients. A long-time resident of Arlington, Goldstein's older daughter graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 2008 and now teaches kindergarten. His younger daughter graduated from H-B Woodlawn in 2011.
"I am deeply grateful to the Arlington community, students, teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, and colleagues who have made my time on the School Board so fulfilling," Goldstein said in the statement. "Together, we have made great progress, and I am proud of what we have accomplished."
