Teen Girl Pepper Sprayed At VA Shopping Mall: Police

Disruptions by a large crowd of rowdy teens inside a Virginia shopping mall resulted in a police response on Saturday, reports say.

ARLINGTON, VA — A teen girl was pepper sprayed by two other teen girls Saturday evening at the Fashion Centre in Pentagon City, according to Arlington County police.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the teenage female victim was approached by two teenage female suspects who are known to her and with whom she has had an ongoing dispute," according to the incident report. "The suspects assaulted her and discharged pepper spray before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim declined medical attention. The investigation is ongoing."

There was already a large police presence in and around the shopping mall on Saturday due to the presence of a large crowd of people. Officers were dispatched around 5:35 p.m. in response to the report of a trespassing.

"A large group of disorderly individuals were observed throughout the inside of the mall," according to the incident report. "Responding officers coordinated with mall security and dispersed the crowd. During the incident, no stores or employees reported criminal incidents. Police remained on scene for several hours to ensure public safety."

In March, ACPD made several arrests in response to multiple fights at the Fashion Centre. The mall was forced to close early in that incident.
