Substance In Letter Sends 3 Military Members To Hospital
Three military personnel have been released from the hospital after a suspicious letter was opened at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.
(Updated at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday): ARLINGTON, VA — Three people were sent to the hospital after a suspicious letter was opened at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington Tuesday evening, Arlington Fire officials report. Officials said 11 people felt ill after the letter was opened in an administration building.
HAZMAT crews are on the scene, officials reported around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. Three people were taken to the hospital in stable condition, local authorities said.
In a statement released by the base Wednesday, officials said the envelope was opened around 3 p.m. The three people who went to the hospital were released at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

ABC7 reports a corporal, gunnery sergeant and a colonel showed symptoms of "burning hands and face and one person had a nosebleed."
Personnel evacuated the building, while base officials coordinated with Arlington area HAZMAT teams, NCIS and the FBI, the statement said.
