2 Shootings In Green Valley Investigated To See If They Are Linked

ARLINGTON, VA — Investigators with Arlington County Police are working to determine whether two shootings that took place Saturday in the Green Valley area are related.

"The shootings that occurred in Green Valley this weekend remain under investigation," said Ashley Savage, an ACPD spokesman on Monday. "As part of the ongoing criminal investigation into each incident, detectives are working to determine if the shootings are linked."

In the first incident, authorities received a call just before 3 a.m. on Saturday about shots being fired near the intersection of 23rd Street South and South Kenmore Street. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators determined the man was outside when he was approached by five male suspects. At some point during the incident, police said one of the suspects fired a gun and struck the victim before fleeing the scene.

In the second incident, officers were summoned to Virginia Hospital Center around 9:55 p.m., for the report of a teen boy seeking medical treatment at the hospital for a gunshot wound, according to police. The injury was not considered life-threatening.

Investigators determined that the teenager was in the 3200 block of 24th Street S., when two people approached him. A fight broke out. During the scuffle, the victim was hit by a round from a gun that one of the suspects had fired, according to police. The two suspects then left.
