Teen Posts Disturbing Video In Arlington School Parking Lot: Cops

The teen posted a video of himself putting a mask over his face and displaying an airsoft rifle at an Arlington school, police say.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Police have arrested a Falls Church teen after they say he posted a disturbing video in the parking lot of Wakefield High School recently.

A U.S. Secret Service officer contacted the Arlington County Police Department at around 7:24 p.m. Jan. 25 to report a video that was posted to Instagram at around noon that day, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

In the video, a teen can be seen sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of Wakefield High School, police say. He then gets out, opens the trunk, puts a black mask on his face, and removes an airsoft rifle when the video ends, the report states.

"After reviewing social media posts and working with school administrators, detectives quickly identified the teen in the video," the report continues. "During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that there was no immediate threat to the safety of the school or its activities, that the video contained a replica firearm and that the teen in the video did not have the means to carry out a threat."

Police charged the teen -- who was not identified due to his age -- under Virginia's "prohibition of wearing a mask" statute, which is a felony. The teen is not a student at any Arlington school.
