VIRGINIA — If you're trying to balance bedtimes with the board room, two Virginia cities are among the best U.S. cities for working parents, according to a new ranking.
The ranking by online coworking space directory CoworkingCafe analyzed several metrics that contribute to making a city a good place for working families. Factors included the number of each remote jobs available, public schools and pediatricians.
Metrics were then categorized into three main groups — work, education and health care/environment — that contributed to a city's overall score.

Washington, D.C. was ranked No. 1 among the top 20 cities with the ideal mix of career opportunities, great childcare, and high quality of life, according to the analysis.

Specifically, the city ranked 2nd in the overall work category due to the high number of office jobs, making it easier for parents to find remote employment. The nation's capital also had the fourth-highest percentage of remote workers. D.C. also excelled in education with more than four public schools per square mile, second only to Miami.
In Virginia, Arlington followed close behind at No. 3. According to the ranking, Arlington stood out by coming in second in the remote workers metric (27 percent of the total workforce), as well as in the share of office jobs (85 percent). Arlington’s schools were also recognized in 10th place on a state level based on their overall quality.
Richmond, Virginia, was also included in the ranking at No. 16.
