Fairfax County Honors 'Trailblazing' West Springfield Girl Wrestlers

Three wrestlers from the West Springfield High School girls wrestling team made it to the first-ever Girls’ State Wresting Meet in Manassas in February, with one of the girls winning the state title in her weight class. With West Springfield High School leading the movement in girls wrestling in Fairfax County, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution on Tuesday honoring the school’s “trailblazing” girls wrestling team.

Prom For Guests With Special Needs In Vienna Made Memorable

Saturday night was nothing more than a joyful experience for prom guests with special needs, who dressed up in their best dresses and suits and entered on a red carpet surrounded by a military honor guard. After that, it was a night filled with smiles, dancing and happy tears. This was the atmosphere at the Be Our Guest prom, which Vienna Presbyterian Church hosted for guests with special needs.

Researchers at CoworkingCafe looked at job opportunities, income levels, cost of living, lifestyle amenities and other metrics in order to find the best U.S. cities for recent graduates to start their careers.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit Cuts Ribbon On Elden Street In Herndon

Although the Dickey's Barbecue Pit had a soft-launch of its new restaurant in Herndon on April 14, town officials joined franchisee owners Mosni and Dhaval Shah for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 4. The Shahs, who have operated a hotel in St. Cloud, Minnesota for seven years, moved to the Herndon area in 2020 with plans of opening a restaurant. Unfortunately, the pandemic delayed the launch of the business until this year.

A Simple Gesture Reston Seeks To Expand Food Collection Program

A Simple Gesture Reston recently received a $5,000 grant from the Closet of the Greater Herndon area to expand its food collection program in order to keep food pantry shelves across Northern Virginia fully stocked. "The Closet is pleased to provide this grant to help A Simple Gesture Reston continue their impactful local food collection program,” said Gene Wiley, president of The Closet.
