Veterans Day 2022: Events, What's Open, Closed In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — On Veterans Day, we honor all of those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. The federal holiday on Friday, Nov. 11 will come with special events honoring veterans and schedule changes for local services.

At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, Arlington County will be holding its Veterans Day Commemoration and Concert, featuring the U.S. Army Band, in the Bozman Government Center Plaza.

Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is partnering with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority to support military organizations at a Veterans Resource Fair on Friday, Nov. 11.

Representatives from Friendship Place, Women Achieving Victory Everywhere, Supporting Our Survivors, Be the Match Marrow Donor Program and other groups will be collecting supplies at the mall to assist with homeless veterans and to provide care packages for active military members overseas. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Arlington County government offices will be closed on Friday, along with other services. Some other services like transit will be open with schedule changes. Below are other schedule changes to know in Arlington.

Arlington Public Schools: Nov. 11 is a student holiday.

Courts: The Arlington Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court will be closed Nov. 11.

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles: All Virginia DMV customer service centers will be closed on Nov. 11.

Libraries: All Arlington Public Library locations are closed on Nov. 11.

COVID-19 clinics: Vaccine clinics are closed on Nov. 11. The Curative testing kiosks also are closed on Nov. 11.

Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: All Arlington community centers and park administrative offices are closed on Nov. 11. League play depends on the league. The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center is closed on Nov. 11. All Arlington County parks are open Nov. 11.

Parking: Permit parking is always in effect unless specifically noted on the sign. Meters will not be enforced on Nov. 11.

Metro: Metrorail will operate on a Saturday holiday schedule from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Metrobus will run on a Saturday supplemental schedule. For more information, visit www.wmata.com/service.

ART: ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55 and 87 will operate on Saturday schedules on Nov. 11. All other ART routes will not operate. The ART Customer Call Center will be closed.

Post offices: Closed on Nov. 11.

Trash and recycling collection: Regular collection for curbside trash, recycling and yard waste pickup. No mulch delivery on Nov. 11. The household hazards/electronics drop-off facility is closed on Fridays.
