Weapon, Robbery By Force Charges Levied Against Arlington Man: Police
An Arlington man is facing a weapon charge after a firearm was found inside his vehicle during a Dec. 30 traffic stop, according to police.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 19-year-old Arlington man wanted for robbery and assault by mob is facing a weapons charge after he tried to flee from police during a Dec. 30 traffic stop on Columbia Pike, according to authorities.
Shortly before 8 p.m., an Arlington police officer conducted a traffic stop after they spotted a wanted suspect traveling in a vehicle at Columbia Pike and South Frederick Street, according to the incident report. The suspect tried to flee on foot but he was taken into custody a short time later.
The suspect, identified as Mauricio Alvarado Gutierrez of Arlington, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction of justice, according to the report. He was also served with outstanding warrants for robbery and assault by mob in connection to an incident that occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 19, in the 4200 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive.

In the earlier case, the victim was sitting in front of a residential building when he was approached by three men, two of whom he knew, according to police. The three men assaulted the victim with what appeared to be a metal object, stole articles of clothing and electronics. They then left the scene on foot. Medics treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene.
Alvarado Gutierrez was arraigned Jan. 2. in Arlington General District Court followed by a bond hearingon Jan. 5 bond hearing , according to court records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m., on March 16.

After Alvarado Gutierrez was denied a bond on Jan. 6, he appealed the decision but that was also denied, according to court records.
Robbery by force, which is a Class 5 felony, is the most serious charge Alvarado Gutierrez is facing. If convicted on that charge, he faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison or up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,500, according to court records.
