Weapons Charge Filed Against Alexandria Man: Arlington Police
Arlington County Police arrested a 52-year-old Alexandria man who they say resisted arrest and had a firearm, according to police report.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 52-year-old Alexandria man faces multiple charges, including reckless handling of a firearm, in connection with an incident Saturday morning in the Shirlington area, authorities said.
Around 10:24 a.m., Arlington County Police dispatched officers to Columbia Pike and South Glebe Road to investigate the report of a suspicious person. Officers determined a man was acting disorderly and manipulating what appeared to be a firearm, before leaving the area. After a short search, officers located the suspect near South Randolph Street and South Quincy Street.
At first, the man resisted arrest, but eventually the officers took him into custody, according to a police report. Officers recovered a firearm and said the suspect gave them false information about his identity.

Police charged Jean-Paul Tshiteya of Alexandria with reckless handling of a firearm, obstruction of justice and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held without bond.
Tshiteya has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 28, 2025 in Arlington General District Court, according to court records.
