Wesley Housing Joins Melwood On Multi-Functional Project In Arlington
Melwood, an advocate for people with disabilities, is partnering with Wesley Housing on a new multi-functional building in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA — Melwood, an employer advocate for people with disabilities, is partnering with Wesley Housing on a new multi-functional building in Arlington.
The project, at 750 23rd Street South, will convert one of Melwood’s existing commercial buildings in Arlington into affordable housing.
In addition to creating more than 100 units of affordable housing, Melwood will retain a portion of the space to continue offering on-site programs and services, including job skills training, for people with disabilities.

Located two blocks west of National Landing, the project will offer affordable homes to households averaging 60 percent of the area median income. Some units will be set aside for individuals and families with very low incomes, and with up to 30 units specifically designed and held with a priority preference for people with disabilities.
“This collaboration with Wesley Housing has the power to transform the lives of people with disabilities and support Arlington’s continued leadership in building an inclusive community,” Larysa Kautz, president and CEO of Melwood, said in a statement.

Wesley Housing, a leader in affordable housing and assisting people with housing needs, will now be supporting people with disabilities find a place to call home, Kautz said.
“Partnering with an organization like Melwood, with over 60 years of experience fostering more inclusive communities in our region, will help to ensure that we deliver on our values of cultivating supportive communities that build up lives,” Kamilah McAfee, president and CEO, Wesley Housing, said in a statement.
