The Independence Day holiday falls on Tuesday, July 4. Arlington County government offices will be closed on July 4, while the county courts will be closed both Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
The Arlington County Police Department, Virginia State Police, United States Park Police, and Virginia Department of Transportation will close multiple roads in Arlington on Tuesday, July 4 for Fourth of July events, including the fireworks on the National Mall in D.C.

Arlington County government offices: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
Arlington Public Schools: School is out for summer break. Summer school begins on Wednesday, July 5.
Courts: The Arlington Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
Permitting and Inspection Services: Permit Arlington Center is closed on Tuesday, July 4. Permit Arlington is available for customer use and application submissions.
Parking: Permit parking is always in effect unless specifically noted on the sign. Meters are not enforced on holidays.
Libraries: Arlington Public Libraries will be closed Tuesday, July 4.
ABC Stores: Virginia ABC stores will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
Trash Pickup & Recycling:
- Recycling/Trash/Organics Curbside Routes: Regular collection on Tuesday, July 4.

Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: All community centers, administrative offices and classes are closed Tuesday, July 4. League members should check with their leagues on schedules.
The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. Parks in Arlington will be open on the Fourth of July.
