11 Big Numbers That Explain Ashburn

ASHBURN, VA — One thing we don't need the U.S. Census Bureau to explain: Ashburn has grown over the last five years. We just have to look around.

The census performs monthly surveys of Ashburn residents and collects the findings over the past five years. The survey results include more than 40 topics, including demographic, housing, social and employment information.

Published earlier this month, the American Community Survey data collected survey results from 2011-2015. We've collected 11 of the big numbers below (along with data from the 2006-2010 report released 5 years ago).

What's different? There's nearly 7,000 more residents and more than 2,500 more households, but the median household income hasn't increased much in five years. Here's more:

  • Families made up 76 percent of the households in Ashburn (78 percent in 2010)
