$5 Million Top Lottery Prize Claimed By Ashburn Woman

ASHBURN, VA — An Ashburn woman never dreamed she'd be taking home a lottery ticket worth $5 million.

That's exactly what happened when Jennifer Ivey won the top prize with a 100X the Money ticket.

"It feels amazing! It really does!" Ivey told Virginia Lottery officials when redeeming the prize. "I just kind of stared at it because I couldn’t believe it!"

Ivey had the option of taking the $5 million prize in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $3,125,000 before taxes. She chose the latter. The Virginia Lottery did not indicate what she plans to do with her winnings.

The Ashburn resident bought her winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 25465 Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly. The store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

The 100X the Money is a scratch ticket with prizes ranging from $30 to $5 million. Ivey's prize was the second of three top prizes in the game. One remains unclaimed. The chances of winning the $5 million top prize are 1 in 2,652,000, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.82.
