Adoption Fees Waived For Empty The Shelters At Loudoun Animal Shelter

Loudoun County Animal Services will host an adoption event with fees waived for pets, from dogs and cats to livestock.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) will host a free pet adoption event from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter, 42225 Adoption Drive, Leesburg. Regular adoption fees will be waived for all available pets, which include cats, kittens, dogs, small pets and livestock.

The LCAS team is again joining the nationwide “Empty the Shelters” event, sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation with the hopes of finding homes for all the shelter pets this spring.

“With more than 400 shelters in 40-pluis states participating in the event, LCAS is proud to be a part of this effort,” says LCAS Operations Manager Melissa Heard. “We have a large number of animals here at the shelter that are housetrained and that have lived with other pets, so we are eager to find each family a perfect match.”

Adopters will receive a starter supply bag containing essential items to support their pet’s transition into a new home. In addition, all individuals adopting a dog during this event will receive their choice of in-person or virtual free dog training classes.

The standard adoption screening process still applies during this promotion and most adoptions can be completed on the same day. All dogs, cats and rabbits adopted from LCAS are spayed or neutered and receive a microchip which is registered to their adopter. Dogs and cats also receive age-appropriate vaccinations and will go home with a code for a free Tractive GPS tracker.
