ASHBURN, VA — When it comes to Independence Day celebrations in Loudoun County, places such as Ashburn and Sterling tend to go relatively small in ceding the spotlight to the two big ones in the county seat of Leesburg. We're talking about the annual parade through downtown and then the concert and fireworks at Ida Lee Park, 60 Ida Lee Drive NW.

(As for Independence Day weather, according to the National Weather Service: Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 5 p. m. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 100.)

The parade begins 10 a.m. at Ida Lee Park, travels down King Street and concludes at Franklin Street. It includes the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps, which will perform at the intersection of King and Market Street just before the parade begins.
