Ashburn House Fire Causes Total Loss, Injures Sheriff's Deputy

An Ashburn house was unoccupied when a heavy fire broke out, and a sheriff's deputy had a minor injury during the response.

ASHBURN, VA — A total loss was the result of a fire at an Ashburn home early Friday, according to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. No residents or firefighters were injured, but a Loudoun County sheriff's deputy had a minor injury during the response.

Units responded to multiple 911 calls before 4 a.m. on Friday in the 44000 block of Chatham Way in Ashburn. Firefighters found heavy fire from all sides and through the roof of the single-family home. The home was found to be unoccupied when the fire occurred.

Firefighters requested a Rapid Intervention Task Force and Rehabilitation and Air Utility units to assist with the response. Units used numerous hose lines and master stream devices to put out most of the fire and worked on reducing the spread to surrounding homes. Because the fire was advanced and caused various areas of collapse, the fire department said it became unsafe for firefighters to enter the home.
