Ashburn Masonic Lodge and Youth Groups Donate 3/4 Tons of Food

Local Freemasons and Masonic Youth Groups Donate to Mobile Hope, a Charity for Underprivileged Youth

Leesburg, VA – June 16, 2024 – Ashburn Freemasons and Masonic youth groups joined forces with the community to collect food for Mobile Hope, a Leesburg-based non-profit organization that provides support and emergency shelter to at-risk, precariously housed, or homeless youth up to age 24. Mobile Hope empowers these young people to become self-sufficient and experience improved well-being.

This initiative was spearheaded by Victor Zak, a member of Ashburn-Sterling Lodge No. 288. Zak collaborated with members of the Masonic Lodge, Masonic youth groups (Ashburn Assembly No. 11 (Rainbow), Ashburn Chapter (DeMolay)), and the community to gather canned food donations.

Throughout May, canned goods were collected through food drives organized by the Masonic youth groups, donations from the community, and contributions from Wegmans Food Markets and Food Lion in Leesburg. The effort resulted in a remarkable collection of 1,296 cans, totaling 3/4 tons of food.

“We are proud to partner with Mobile Hope and support their vital mission,” said Victor Zak. “The Masonic youth groups were enthusiastic participants in this food drive, and it was truly inspiring to see the generosity of our community members and Wegmans and Food Lion. This collective effort will help ensure that homeless and at-risk youth in Leesburg and surrounding areas have access to nutritious food.”

On Saturday, June 8th, the collected canned food was delivered to Mobile Hope. The organization expressed their sincere gratitude, as their shelves were running low on supplies. The Ashburn-Sterling Lodge and affiliated youth groups extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone in the community who contributed to this impactful endeavor. Together, we made a significant difference in the lives of underprivileged youth in our community.
