Ashburn Tree Owner Aims To Help Neighbors In A Growing Ashburn
Ashburn Tree owner Jeff Walsh, whose business exclusively serves his hometown, shares what to know during severe storm season.

ASHBURN, VA — Maintaining healthy trees is one of the responsibilities homeowners around Ashburn face. One of the tree services is Ashburn Tree, which focuses exclusively on serving Ashburn.
Owner Jeff Walsh started Ashburn Tree in 2017 in response to many trees in the growing Ashburn community reaching maturity.
"I saw a lot of potential to grow a tree business here," Walsh told Patch. "I focus on serving Ashburn exclusively, especially during busy times."

Ashburn Tree focuses on tree pruning, tree removal and stump grinding services. Walsh says it's important for homeowners to use a qualified arborist when they notice an issue with their trees. He says certified arborists "need to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience, and we're also required to follow a strict code of ethics."
Homeowners can reach out to a tree company any time they are experiencing a tree concern. Generally, Walsh recommends December through February as a time for long-term tree maintenance planning with an arborist.

The summer season especially brings risks of tree damage from severe storms. Walsh says storm responses are typically the most intense and risky calls that Ashburn Tree responds to.
"It involves handling huge tree parts that can shift or fall, and numerous branches that are under extreme tension," said Walsh.
In some cases, homeowners may be caught off caught when a seemingly healthy tree is destroyed during a severe storm. Walsh says a tree risk assessment qualified arborist can identify and address signs of weakness in a tree proactively before severe weather occurs.
While the business is focused on tree removal and maintenance, it helps with other calls too. According to Walsh, Ashburn Tree recently assisted Loudoun Valley Raptor Center with a bird in need that was stuck high in a tree.
For Walsh, living where he works makes owning Ashburn Tree worthwhile.
"Living in Ashburn makes it easy to cover my service area," said Walsh. "Plus, I feel a strong connection to my clients because they're also my neighbors."
