Man Assaults Cops In Sterling: LCSO

​A man was arrested after assaulting police in Sterling, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

STERLING, VA—A man was arrested early Sunday after assaulting police in the area of City Center Boulevard, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Daniel J. Schmidt, 43, of Winsted, Conn., was charged with drunk in public, hindering, obstruction of justice and two counts of assault on law enforcement.

Around 2:15 a.m., police were summoned to the 46000 block of Lake Center Plaza regarding a man who forced a woman into his car. Authorities spotted the vehicle near City Center Boulevard and made contact with its occupants.

While police were interviewing Schmidt, he became verbally abusive and assaulted them. During the fracas, (removed) came around the car and also assaulted an officer, a charge that was later dropped. Both people eventually were subdued and arrested after the intervention of other officers and a K-9 unit.
