3-Year-Old Abduction In Ashburn Leads To Arrest: Sheriff's Office

The sheriff's office said a 3-year-old was taken by force, and the mother was able to rescue her child.

ASHBURN, VA — An abduction of a 3-year-old child in Ashburn Sunday has led to an arrest, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies had responded around 7:28 p.m. Sunday in the 43000 block of Central Station Drive due to reports of an unknown man forcibly taking the child at a restaurant. Authorities say the child's mother intervened and got her child back before the man could leave. There were no injuries to the child.

Shane Paul Bergeron, 34, of Jefferson, Georgia, was taken into custody at a nearby hotel. He was charged with abduction by force and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
